    Required documents 

    Engineering diploma from a country not covered by an agreement

    The application you submit to the Access to the Profession Department of the Order must include
    the following:

    • A duly completed and signed permit application;
    • An original act of birth issued by the Civil Registry office (accompanied by a photocopy); the original act will be returned to you after verification.
    • Official transcripts for each diploma supporting the application and a contemporary description of all your courses. Theses must be sent to the Order by the issuing institution, along with the Transcript Request form  (form optional);

    • Any university diploma or diplomas supporting the application (a true copy certified >by the issuing educational institution or by an employee of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec upon presentation of the original and photocopy) or a document attesting to the issuance of the diploma or diplomas sent directly to the Order by the issuing educational institution (the hard copy version must be accompanied by a photocopy).

    The analysis of the academic credits of your diploma (s) will be done during the analysis of your file, in order to determine if you obtained the minimum of credits required by the regulation.

    • An up-to-date resume detailing your work experience since obtaining the engineering diploma.This document is optional (Sample resume);

    • If you have already worked as an Engineer, you must demonstrate that relevant work experience or training acquired since then has made up for this disparity. To establish this you must complete an Engineering experience certification form:

    Documentation proving that your knowledge of French is appropriate to the practice
    of the profession. *

    • Payment of the permit application fee. See « REQUEST FOR PERMIT - Holder of Type 4 engineering degree» in the Fee Schedule. **


    IMPORTANT : Documents submitted in support of the application for recognition of equivalence, which are not written in English or French, must be accompanied by their
    translation into one of these languages. Translation must be certified as true by the original translator of the Order of Certified Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of Quebec or, if not of Quebec, recognized by the competent authority of his province or country.

    PAYMENT METHODS

    On-Line Application – two payment methods are accepted :

    • MasterCard or Visa credit card;
    • Paypal.

    Hard Copy Application – three payment methods are accepted:

    certified cheque, bank draft or money order payable to the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
    • MasterCard or Visa credit card;
    • Debit card or cash (exact amount) – at the OIQ offices only.
