End of the junior engineer program
According to section 32 of the Regulation respecting other terms and conditions for the issuance of permits by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, sponsorship consists of a series of 6 meetings that must be held at least 3 months apart. Since this regulation will become null and void on April 1, 2022, it is no longer possible to start and finish the sponsorship program within the remaining period of time. In fact, December 31, 2020 was the cut-off date for registering for this program.
COVID-19
Sponsorship meetings can now take place by videoconference.
To take part in sponsorship activities, Junior Engineers must find a sponsor (mentor), enrol
in the program and take care of all the program’s administrative tasks.
The Guide to the Sponsorship Program includes the program enrolment form and the follow-up sheets that must be completed at each meeting.
Please note that you will obtain a continuing education credit of 7.5 hours once you have completed the Sponsorship Program. These hours will be noted under the ‘participation in a course, conference, workshop or seminar’ category. Furthermore, the Engineer who is sponsoring the Junior Engineer will also obtain a continuing education credit of 7.5 hours.
Recourse:
If the requirements of the Sponsorship Programme are not fulfilled, the evaluator may refuse to issue an attestation of success. In such a case, the Junior Engineer may invoke the right to be heard. Please consult article 35 of the Regulation respecting other terms and conditions for the issue of a permit by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec for the procedure to be followed.
IMPORTANT
Since March 2002, Engineers-in-Training may replace the Sponsorship Program with 12 months of additional experience.
