Members are required to carry professional liability insurance in accordance with the Règlement sur l’assurance de la responsabilité professionnelle des ingénieurs.
The amount of coverage depends on the engineer’s type of practice.
Generally, the group insurance plans cover damages incurred due to errors or omissions for 5 years after the engineer ceases to practice or passes away.
Professional liability insurance is one of the measures put in place by the Professional Code and the OIQ to protect you. Before hiring an engineer, consult the directory to confirm that they are a member of the OIQ.
